Kutaj has white flowers, fragrant, with rough bark. The kutaj is native to Asia and is widely grown in India, especially in the sub-Himalayan tracts, in areas of deciduous forest, and open barren soils.

Kutaj in Ayurvedic Medicine

In Ayurveda, parts of the kutaj plant including the skin, leaves, seeds, and flowers are teurapetic. It is said that these parts of the kutaj balance the Pitta and Kapha doshas. It tastes bitter, harsh and potency cold.

Meanwhile, the main compounds in the kutaj or kutaja (kurchi) plant are conessine, holarrhenine, conimine, and kurchiphylline. In addition, Kutaja is also hypotensive, antifungal, antiprotozoal, antispasmodic, antidiarrheal, hypoglycaemic, and anticancer. So there are many important compounds for health that are in the kutaj. So, on this occasion, we will review and explain the health benefits of Kutaj.

Health Benefits of Kutaj (Holarrhena Antidysenterica)

1. Kutaj is good for treating dysentery

This is one of the best herbs for treating dysentery, because the kutaja plant contains amoebae. It reduces inflammation in the intestines, and it aids in recovery against dysentery and diarrhea.

2. Kutaj is good for dealing with skin problems

Kutaj plant contains antifungal, anti-protozoal, which is good for treating skin diseases, ringworm, scabies, infections and itching. To cure the infection, we only need to make a paste of kutaj leaves and apply it to the infected area.

3. Benefits of Kutaj for women

The seeds of Kutaj or Kutaja are said to be good for assisting conception so this herb is good for mothers who want to get pregnant.

The seeds, if consumed by a new mother, have the benefit of strengthening the V@gina tissue and strengthening muscles.

4. Great for treating bleeding hemorrhoids
