What is Empanada?

The name of this sandwich is from the verb empanar, which means to wrap or coat in bread, as stated on the wikipedia page.

This typical sandwich is made with bread dough with certain ingredients and then spread and added the contents, then it is folded and baked.

So, the filling of this bread varies, from beef, chicken to fruit. Empanadas can be made at once in large quantities and frozen for later consumption.

A good and perfect empanada can be marked by its dough that doesn’t clump in a plastic freezer. Once frozen, you can take the empanadas one by one from the freezer when they are cold and frozen.

Step 1

The first thing is to line the baking sheet with parchment paper

Then, place the empanadas on top, only in one layer so the empanadas don’t stick to each other. Keep the distance between the empanadas from touching.

Put the pan that already contains the empanadas into the freezer

Step 4

Then, when the empanadas have frozen, remove the pan from the freezer. The freezing process usually lasts two hours.

The final step in freezing the empanadas is to wrap each empanada in a plastic freezer bag. Once you’ve put each frozen empanada in a freezer-proof bag (use a sealable bag), place it in the freezer and store it there.
