Recipe Tips and Substitutions
In the original recipe for this dish we had to use a full bottle of BBQ sauce and undried pineapple sauce. Chicken thighs also give their own juice when we cook them, this will add to the delicacy of the dish. The best way is to dry the pineapple, and you only use half a bottle of BBQ sauce.
If later you find a dish that is less tasty, you can add it while cooking.
You can also use bone-in or boneless chicken thighs. But make sure that the chicken skin has been removed. Remember, there is no chicken skin in the Crock Pot BBQ Pineapple Chicken recipe.
If you can’t find chicken thighs, you can use chicken breasts as in the previous recipe. But make sure you check for doneness after 5 hours of cooking.
Sauce ingredients can also be poured one by one over the chicken. When your chicken is done, you can stir in all the sauces and seasonings.
