What is Cottage Cheese?

Before we take a look at how cottage cheese tastes, let’s first find out what cottage cheese is.

Cottage cheese was a very popular food in the old days, around the 70s. It seems that cottage cheese has been a diet food for weight loss in the past.

Cottage cheese is cheese that is made from milk and contains a special enzyme called “renin”. In the manufacturing process, the curd and whey are separated so that the milk turns into a solid gel. This solid gel is what is called cottage cheese.

Indeed, during the cheese-making process, whey protein has been removed, but not completely lost. So, a small portion of this protein remains in cottage cheese.

But the taste of cottage cheese doesn’t end here. There is added flavor when adding starch, cream, and salt. Well, from here we might be able to guess what this cottage cheese tastes like.

So, it is true that the taste is a bit different and most people don’t like it, unless you are used to it. So, for those who want to try it, take cheese with the content as I mentioned it.

While cottage cheese is 1% fat or fat free, it tastes so salty, you definitely can’t tolerate it. So, at first glance, it feels like that. We think you can already guess how it will taste, although to know clearly, you need to try it yourself. Because sometimes one person feels differently.

The reason is that it is rich in protein and contains few calories. The existing protein is a type of casein, a protein that makes a person full quickly. Not only accelerates satiety but also makes satiety last longer so you don’t want to eat too much.

The health benefits of cottage cheese are also due to being rich in B vitamins. It contains vitamin B12 which is useful for improving brain function and brain health. Besides that, it also contains riboflavin which is good at converting carbohydrates into energy. Furthermore, why cottage cheese is so healthy, it turns out that this salty food contains folate whose benefit is to increase the production of red blood cells.

Because cheese is a product of milk, it also contains calcium which is useful for strengthening bones, stabilizing blood sugar, reducing the risk of cancer and improving the digestive system.
