Avocado is a tropical fruit that is rich in vitamins and minerals. This fruit is not available all year round because it is a seasonal fruit. To be able to enjoy it all year round, of course we have to find a way to be able to store it and keep it fresh so that it can be enjoyed anytime. The freshness is amazing and avocado is a widely used ingredient in various drinks and cakes.

It makes sense to freeze avocados, because there are so many things you can create with this tropical fruit. Of course, to enjoy the delicious avocado you don’t want to wait a few months from now until the fruitful season arrives. So, the question “can you freeze avocados” we have to answer today.

In the middle of winter, it is almost impossible to find ripe avocados at the fruit shop. If anything, they are also very expensive. But don’t be discouraged, you can still enjoy avocado all year round without having to buy it at a quite expensive price.

Can You Freeze Avocados?

There are other ways to avoid discoloration in avocados. This is by adding acid. For example: you can brush the entire avocado (skin) with lemon or lime juice.

After everything is done, the avocado can be stored in the freezer for 6 months. So, you can enjoy it when it’s not avocado season. 6 months in the freezer will not change the color and taste and texture. Just try it!

If you wait longer than 6 months, there may be a slight change in color and taste. But it’s up to you, if you want to store any longer in the freezer.

Freezing avocado halves

Before freezing whole avocados, it’s best to remove the skin and avocado seeds first. See the following guide for freezing avocados:

  • Remove the avocado skin and seeds, slice the avocado flesh
  • Rub the whole avocado with lemon juice,
  • Each part of the avocado is wrapped in plastic or a bag that has been swept away. Remove the air in the bag.
  • Try not to have room for air in the bag, if exposed to air, the fruit turns brown and turns. The plastic should stick with the caterpillar’s flesh, including where the seeds were.
  • Then, put the avocado wrapped in wrapping sealer, put it in a large bag again, and throw away all the air too.
  • All the air from the bag is wiped away,
  • Then put the bag into the freezer

How to freeze mashed avocado?

Some friends prefer it another way, they grind it first so that the avocado becomes smooth, then freeze it. This is preferable because it is easy to use without the need to process it again.

  • Place in a bowl, sprinkle with lemon juice,
  • Mash the avocado until it reaches the consistency you want,

How to enjoy frozen avocado?
